Matthew McConaughey’s Virtual Bingo

If the video of superstar Matthew McConaughey’s Virtual Bingo isn’t the pick-me-up we all need right now, then what is? The brilliantly talented Oscar winner turned his hand at virtual Bingo calling to spread a little love to the residents at the Enclave at Round Rock Senior Living Centre.

It is for most of us an unprecedented time to be alive, with every little act of kindness a beautiful thing to behold. Getting a Hollywood Superstar to call the numbers at your weekly Bingo event is a special thing at the best of times. Made even more special by a beautiful act of selflessness at a time when people need it most. Hats off to you Mr McConaughey 🙂

The residents of the Enclave at Round Rock Senior Living Centre put in a personal request back in September for Matthew to take part in one of their bingo nights. To their surprise, he accepted, but due to the travel restrictions set in place, it wasn’t possible for him to be there in person, so he joined the group call and made it the Matthew McConaughey’s Virtual Bingo special.

The whole McConaughey family joined in, with his mother, wife, and his children all seen on the video.

The Prize

Some prizes are better than money, and during the game, the residents (players) got to talk with and listen to how the Superstar is dealing with his own social distancing and isolation. A lovely moment shared with a very grateful Bingoing fan club.

The top prize was something special too, a “question”. The lucky player that called House got to ask Matthew a question. Involvement with a community is important and Matthew sharing his time made with the Round Rock Senior Living players, transformed an entertaining game of Bingo into a game they’ll never forget, and it made our day watching it.

Stop the Spread

The information and government advice that is being issued is serious and needs to be treated as such. Hand washing, social distancing, isolation where need and common sense are measures that we can and should take seriously.

If you have symptoms of coronavirus (a high temperature or a new, continuous cough), use the 111 coronavirus service (UK) to find out what to do.

Please stay safe and look after each other.
