Online Gaming back in the USA

Online Gaming back in the USA ? Not exactly!

Is Online Gaming back in the USA? Not quiet but it’s a start and one that has taken the US by storm. Last month the Illinois Lottery became the first American lottery game to begin selling tickets online. With a Mega Millions jackpot fast approaching the $500 million mark, it was the perfect week to launch online. But what next?

Other states and gaming platforms are watching closely to see what they do next. If the State of Illinois move to take the next step and start launching online poker, blackjack and other casino games, it could get exciting.

Illinios are not so much starting a trend in online gaming in the US, but restarting it after the U.S. Justice Department reversed its previous stance on online gambling.

Asked why Illinois, Lottery Superintendent Michael Jones said “going online with ticket sales was motivated by the popularity of online retailing and would enhance lottery revenues”. Add that to the fact that he also mentioned. “Illinois has been hard hit by the Great Recession” and you have something that is probably closer to the truth.

Change is coming

This could be the “in” that online sites have been waiting for. There’s no doubting that there could be a surge in new gaming sites popping up in the US. Especially if you consider that this could open up the market to players that have never played online before. USA players want more than Vegas and lottery tickets.

The US market could once again be the biggest for online sites and affiliates. However, there is a BUT. This all comes with some caution as there have been plenty of sites caught out. We all know that the penalties can be massive.

Over the past couple of years the “evil” that is gambling has been hit hard by the US. This turn around and blatant grab at a much wider audience has lead other companies to re-ignite interest. Getting back in the US saddle is next on their list. For now though,  sitting back and watching to see what happens next is sensible.
